I'm Joan — a personal trainer specialising in special populations. That means the people most fitness spaces overlook: those recovering from injury, managing a chronic condition, returning to movement later in life, or simply starting from a place where a standard gym program doesn't fit.
My work sits at the intersection of movement and confidence. Progress isn't only measured on a scale — it's climbing stairs without pain, carrying groceries without help, sleeping better, standing taller. We build capability first, and the rest follows.
Every plan is grounded in evidence-based practice, adapted continuously to how your body responds, and delivered with the patience that real change requires.

Not sure which fits? The free 20-minute call exists exactly for that — no pressure, no obligation.
A clear, unhurried path from first conversation to lasting change.
A relaxed 20-minute call. We talk through your history, any medical considerations, and what you actually want from training.
Movement screening, baseline measurements and a clear picture of where you're starting — so progress can be measured honestly.
A workout and nutrition plan built for your body, your equipment, your schedule and your condition. Nothing generic.
We train, track and adjust. Your plan evolves with you — because the right program at week one isn't the right one at week twelve.
The wins that matter most rarely show up on a scale.
After my knee surgery I was terrified of exercise. Joan built a plan around what I could do, not what I couldn't. Eight months on I'm walking my dog again without pain.
At 68 I thought strength training wasn't for me. Joan proved otherwise — patiently. My balance is better, my back pain is gone, and I feel a decade younger.
Managing type 2 diabetes felt overwhelming until Joan connected the training to my nutrition. My numbers improved and — honestly — so did my confidence.
It refers to anyone whose training needs to account for something beyond a standard fitness program — a chronic condition, an injury, limited mobility, age-related changes, pregnancy, or a disability. It simply means your plan has to be built more carefully, and by someone qualified to do it.
Not at all — beginners are some of my favourite clients. We start from wherever you are, at a pace that feels manageable. There's no minimum fitness level required to begin.
Gladly. For clients with medical conditions or recent injuries, coordinating with your clinical team produces far better outcomes. I'll stay within any restrictions they set, and I'll ask for clearance where it's appropriate. Personal training complements medical care — it doesn't replace it.
Both. In-person sessions are available locally, and online coaching works well for plan delivery, form checks and progress reviews. Many clients use a mix of the two.
Often less than you'd think. Plenty of effective programs run on bodyweight, a chair and a resistance band. Your assessment covers what you already have access to, and the plan is built around that.
Most clients notice improvements in energy, sleep and daily movement within three to four weeks. Visible physical changes typically follow around weeks eight to twelve. Recovery-focused clients often see functional gains sooner — regaining a movement they'd lost matters more than any number.
Yes, from the Transform plan upward. Guidance is practical and built around foods you actually eat — no extreme restrictions, no expensive supplements, no shame. Clients with conditions requiring medical nutrition therapy are referred to a registered dietitian, and I'll work alongside them.
Yes. Life happens — illness, travel, family. Monthly plans can be paused or cancelled with a week's notice, no penalty.
Book a free, no-obligation 20-minute call. Tell me where you are and what you'd like to change — I'll tell you honestly whether I'm the right person to help.
The body will usually go further than the mind believes it can. My job is to close that gap safely — one session, one small win at a time.
